Breaking Ground

We chose to dig the foundation ourselves to save money..I know that sounds crazy but Ross has the experience and all we needed was time. The hole is 4 feet wider than the house on all sides and 2 feet down. It took about 6x longer to dig it ourselves than hire a professional, slowly but surely it got done. Who says you can't dig a foundation out with a box scraper and dig it anyway?

The final stakeout.

We met with the project manager from Hiline Homes to do our final stakeout. The final stakeout is the last step before actually "breaking ground." This step is pretty boring but he staked out the 4 corners of our home and marked where the foundation needs to be dug out. He also made sure we had everything on site that will be needed for the builders to start the construction process such as water, power, and our permits.
